FLEAS! Fleas are one of the most problematic and common external parasites of our pets.  They are responsible for anemia, skin problems, certain  tapeworms, and other more serious diseases of pets and people.  They can actually kill a pet given enough time and enough fleas, especially the very old and the very young.  The good news, however is that they are completely preventable. To start with, you have to control fleas in the environment.  This means regularly treating your yard and home for adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae. There is also a cocoon stage in their life cycle that no safe insecticide will kill reliably.  This means that you must treat repeatedly to ensure you kill the fleas that hatch out of the cocoons after your first round of treatment.  At Animed, we carry a complete line of indoor and outdoor flea products  that you can use yourself for a fraction of the cost of hiring a   professional exterminator or lawn expert.  We recommend treating every few weeks for 4-5 treatments, both inside and out.  Then regular treatments at least twice a year.
